Heritage inspired
Every Miss Rio candle and diffuser is inspired by the windswept moors of Dartmoor, drawing on the rugged beauty of the British landscape and a deep connection to horses.
A horse called Rio
Miss Rio is named after Rio, a much-loved horse. Born The Smull, after the Irish jockey Pat Smullen, he had racing in his blood before he became part of our family on a farm in Devon. In August 2025 we lost him, in an accident in which he gave his life trying to protect my granddaughter.
Dartmoor, our healing place
In the months that followed, Dartmoor became our healing place, and Miss Rio was born to keep Rio's memory alive. The rolling hills, ancient tors and ever-changing skies inspire every fragrance we create.
Made in Devon
Every candle and diffuser is made in small batches on our working farm in Devon, which is run entirely by women. Our products are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free.
